Welcome!

this morning miyazaki-sensei gave me a sandwich to celebrate a student’s uni acceptance!! we practiced interviews with her for two months, and it was really nice to make a tangible difference for a student by helping out since my classes just feel like stand-up shows half the time… though she said I don’t need to put the sandwich in the fridge so I’m just sitting here smelling like boiled egg… but i like that whenever she gives me a treat she says that i can have it with my coffee. like yay… you know me!

anyways my white boy’s gone T_T anyone who’s kept up with or met me during my tenancy here knows tyler. can’t fault him for leaving since we’ve both been moping about wanting to go home since day 1… but a tyler-less japan is foreign territory to me :/ but then again so is like literally all of this. so i will appreciate the time i had with a tyler-included japan and look onwards. ty for all the 回転sushi and sorry that it took a few death threats from me to come to terms with your choice.

i have a few classes with the special needs coming up so i’ve been preparing for that… the kids are usually so 元気 and fun so i look forward to the lessons, but there’s a lot more prep on my end because i have to use a lot more japanese... but honestly, i remember after teaching them last year, i kind of wished i taught there more or that it was even my main school because i’d have no choice but to get better at speaking. at my main school, unfortunately my JTEs (japanese english teachers) are all great at english so i just default to that… well let me illustrate the differences here:

after the 5k i’ve been taking it quite easy so i will get back on my exercise grind today. arms again. i will put off legs until after jiu-jitsu tomorrow…
i’m really happy i bit the bullet and just started paying for a membership at this gym, it’s like a 3 minute walk away so i don’t even have time to talk myself out of it before getting to the door. it’s so clean and it’s my first time being at a gym where people greet each other upon entering and leaving (though I guess it’s a cultural thing) which is nice! there is the whole thing about how 99% of the conversations there are in portuguese so i miss out on that part of the community a bit but it’s fine :P
